Figure 2-3-16 Scanner motor control circuit

The scanner motor (SM) control circuit consists of motor driver IC (IC5) and the coil
current section (TR5, TR4, TR3, TR2).
The motor driver IC (IC5) input pulse signals for control output from pins 18, 19, 20 and
21 of CPU (IC18), and goes low the motor drive output according to the pulse signal in
sequence.
The drive current flows to the respective coils of the scanner motor (SM), and the motor
starts rotation.
The CPU (IC18) controls the direction of rotation is determined by the phase angles
between the pulses and the number of rotations by the number of pulses.
The coil current section change the voltage applied to the reference terminals of the
motor driver IC (IC5) according to the control signal output from pins 2, 3, 4 and 5 of IC.
CPU (IC18) change the output from pins 2, 3, 4 and 5 with the scanner motor (SM)
rotation speed deferent from copying zoom ratio, reduce the noise of the motor at low
speed rotation.
