6 .3 Plate/Cassette Maintenance
6 .3 .1 Plate Cleaning
Cleaning methods
CAUTION
•
When using absolute ethanol, make sure to follow the
handling precautions provided by the pharmaceutical
company .
•
Make sure your hands are clean before handling the
plate to prevent it from getting dirty . And refrain from
touching the plate unnecessarily .

Secure an area for the plate to be set on
for cleaning .
Make sure the area meets the following require-
ments .
• It is flat.
•
It is wider than the plate .
•
There is no dust or debris present .
•
It meets the area requirements outlined in
“1 .2 .6 Cassette/Plate Storage and Usage
Cautions”(p . 19) .
When cleaning the back surface of the plate, lay
out a clean, dry cloth to set its front surface on (face
down) for protection .

Remove the plate from the cassette .

Lightly wipe the plate’s front and back
surfaces with a soft, nonwoven dry cloth,
then use a blower to clean away fiber par-
ticles, etc .
•
If the dirt cannot be removed by a dry cloth,
use a soft, nonwoven cloth slightly damp with
absolute ethanol to wipe it clean . Do not use too
much absolute ethanol . After cleaning, fully dry
the plate .
CAUTION
•
Note that wiping with too much force could leave
scratches or alter its shape .
•
Do not damp the cloth with water to clean off dirt .

After cleaning, load the plate into the cas

sette and perform the image erase pro
-
cess .
CAUTION
•
If absolute ethanol was used to clean the plate, make
sure the plate is completely dry before loading it into
the cassette .
•
After cleaning the plate, make sure to perform the im-
age erase process .

Dirt on the cassette’s surface should be
lightly wiped off with a cloth slightly damp
with absolute ethanol or isopropyl alco

hol .
CAUTION
•
Using too much absolute ethanol or isopropyl alcohol
could alter the cassette’s color .
