The CCD sensor detects the image density on an
original during AE scanning to select the optimum copy
gamma correction curve.
AE processing is controlled by the ICB (image control
board).

a.

AE detection

(1) Platen mode

The image density on an original is measured
while the exposure unit moves from the home
position to the leading edge of the original after
depression of the START button.

<AE sampling area>
(1) Normal copy

10mm inside perimeter of original size detected
by APS.

(2) Non-image area erasure mode

Entire original area detected by forward scanning.
