7.2 Possible problems and solutions
Issue
Solution
Baseline drift
Maintain constant temperature conditions du-
ring the measurement .
Device will not turn
on
Inspect the power cable to be sure it is plugged
into the power supply .
Device cannot be
calibrated
Fasten the knurled-head screws on the flow
cell to prevent incursion from interfering light
or an electronics error .
Insert the test cell .
Inspect the calibration with a weak absorbing
eluent .
Baseline noise
Inspect the flow cell assembly .
Fasten the knurled-head screws on the flow
cell to prevent incursion from interfering light
or an electronics error .
Replace the defective flow cell .
Inspect the operating time of the Deuterium-
and Halogen lamp via the lamps GLP menu .
Reduce the air in the flow cell by using a
degas ser .
The relationship
of the signal to the
light path reference
is very low
Rinsing the flow cell .
Clean the flow cell window .
