Checking the Laser Light Using the Pilot Laser
Before starting treatment, emission of CO
2
-laser light must be checked on the focusing
handpiece.
CAUTION
Possible distraction by pilot laser light!
Direct or reflected pilot laser light can blind the user and temporarily impair his or her
working ability.
•
The laser protection goggles are used to protect against the laser beam of the working
laser but are not effective against the red pilot laser light!
•
Do not look directly into the pilot laser light!
•
Point the pilot laser light to a bright surface.
The pilot laser beam must – regardless of the position of the focusing handpiece and the mirror
joint arm – be emitted centrally from the focusing handpiece. It must create a clearly defined,
needle-shaped red spot on the target surface.
There must be no diffused red light.
If the pilot laser light spot is too large or diffuse, check the focusing handpiece for damage and
replace if necessary.
CAUTION
Avoid damage to the eyes!
Deactivate the laser light when the focusing handpiece is to be checked for damage!
