Fumes
CAUTION
Risk of infection due to viable tissue particles in laser fumes!
The fumes that are created in particular by vaporization during the laser treatment can be
harmful to health.
•
We recommend use of a fume suction system (e.g. marVAC
®
by Gebrüder Martin) in case
of applications during which fumes are generated, see section 12.8 “Fume extraction
system marVAC

Laser Delivery System
NOTICE
Check laser delivery system!
Since the visible pilot laser light (aiming beam) follows the same path through the laser
delivery system as the infrared laser light (working beam), it can be conveniently used to
check the integrity of the laser delivery system.
If the pilot laser fails to produce a light spot at the distal end of the laser delivery system
(articulated mirror arm, focusing handpiece and, if used, scanner handpiece or
micromanipulator), or if the spot appears to be weak or diffuse, this may mean that the laser
delivery system is defective or in poor working condition, also see section 6.12 “Checking the
Laser Light Using the Pilot Laser”, page 82.
