PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION TESTS

Short Term Stability Test (optional)
1. Connect the equipment as in Figure 9 (previous page).
2. Set instruments to 1310 nm.
3. Let the light source to warm-up for 15 minutes, then note the
power.
4. Record the optical power every 30 seconds for 3 minutes.
5. Calculate max
– min value (< 0.1 dB).
6. Note this figure in Table 5.
Alternatively, the instrument max/min recording function can be used
to record the data.
Note: The same instructions apply to Short Term Stability Test on
850/1300 nm Light Sources. For improved stability, mandrel wraps
should be used in the case of 850/1300nm.
Centre λ and Spectral Bandwidth (FWHM) Test (optional).
1. Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 10 (next page).
2. Switch on the instruments and allow to fully warm up.
3. On Light Source, enable the source and set the
λ to 1310 nm.
4. On the OSA, press the [Instr Preset] key.
