Pass / Fail Testing

Pass/Fail testing and display is useful to ensure that cable tests pass
before results are stored in memory.

For Tier 1 testing, for example, and other situations that can use two-
way or one-way Autotest, the instrument can be set up to show pass /
fail / marginal based on:

•

Loss, two-way average or worst case

•

Length

•

ORL

When pass/fail check function is enabled, test status will be shown
automatically on the right of the LCD. Marginal values are accepted.

There are two ways of generally setting up the limits:

Limits can be set up directly on the instrument.

Limits can be downloaded from KITS reporting software, so they
match a pass/fail report. This allows more complex data entry.

Under this arrangement, the instrument setup screen shows

“imported setup”

if no setup change is made from the instrument.

The software has several test standards already set up for use,

or the user can easily add other standards for re-use as well. In
this software, pass/fail can be set up for one-way testing, and two

sets of one-way results can be merged to create a bidirectional
test.

If any limit value is set to 0, it is disabled.

In compliance with TIA standards, the default two-way loss pass/fail is

based on the worst case of the bidirectional loss test. Alternatively,
this can be set to fail on a two-way average.

Pass/Fail Set Up

For KITS software operation, please refer to the KITS manual, which
is downloaded with the software.

To set up pass/fail limits directly on the instrument:
