8.8 Headlift Mecha-
nism, cont.
The spring packages on the headlift shaft can engage the bracket,
thereby giving the printhead two positions: Lifted or Locked
(labelled “Load” and “Print” respectively).
The pressure of each spring package can be adjusted by means of
a knob at the top. Maximum pressure is obtained when the knobs
of both adjusters are rotated clockwise as far as they go.
On the inside, the knobs are designed as ratchet wheels. An
increased resistance and clicking sound occurs at each quarter of a
turn.
When assembling an adjuster unit, the pawls of the stop unit must
be pressed inwards so they fi t inside the knob. Else, they are liable
to be broken.
