Chapter 8 Print Unit
8.8 Headlift Mecha-
nism
The headlift mechanism is used to hold the printhead and either
press it against the thermal paper or transfer ribbon, or to lift it
during paper or ribbon load. It also serves as a guide for the transfer
ribbon.
The headlift shaft is fi tted with two adjustable spring packages,
that press down the headlift bracket. The bracket itself is designed
as a torsion spring. The headlift shaft ends with a handle at one side
and a code disk at the other.
The position of the code disk is read by the headlift sensor so the
software can determine whether the printhead is lifted or lowered.
The sensor is connected to P-608 on the CPU board.
