Chapter 11
The Label Taken Sensor (LTS) is an optional device for the Easy-
Coder 501 E, EasyCoder 501 LL, and EasyCoder 501 SA, which
enables the printer’s software to detect if the latest printed label,
ticket, tag, etc. has been removed before printing another copy.
The label taken sensor is usually factory-fi tted, but it is also avail-
able as a kit for upgrading of existing printers. It cannot be fi tted
in combination with a paper cutter. However, the LinerLess cutter
has a bult-in LTS, see Chapter 12.
The label taken sensor consists of a photoelectric sensor with a
bracket and a connection cable. The sensor is fi tted inside the front
hatch, see illustration below.
The photoelectric sensor emits a narrow beam of light, which will
be refl ected back to the sensor by any label, ticket, tag, piece of
strip, or liner, that has not been removed from the outfeed area. A
prerequisite is that the media is fed out along the center section of
the printer.
The LTS is connected to P-606 on the CPU board. The sensitivity
of the receiver can be adjusted by means of the potentiometer
WR-602 and the intensity of the emitter by a strap on P-607 on the
CPU board.
11.1 Description
Label Taken Sensor
The point of detection of the LTS is
situated 10 mm (0.39 inches) outside
the inner edge of the media and 22
mm (0.87 inches) in front of the dot
line on the printhead (present type
of LTS).
In the old type of LTS (distinguished
by the absence of any semicircular slot
in the bracket), the point of detection
is situated 24 mm (0.95 inches) in front
of the dot line, whereas the lateral
position is the same.
Vertical detection range is adjustable
from 5 mm (0.2 inches) above the
edge of the tear bar to max. 50 mm
(2 inches) below the edge (with strap
fi tted on P-607).
