The Automatic System Shutdown dialog also provides these functions:
Option
Description
Force All Processes to Terminate
Terminates all programs if checked. If this option is not
checked the system displays an End Task dialog for each
process that may still be running.
Time Remaining
Sets the time to delay before starting shutdown. When
Automatic Shutdown runs, this timer begins counting down.
Press Enter or click Stop Shutdown to stop the timer.
Stop Shutdown/Start Shutdown
Stops or starts the shutdown timer. This button toggles
between Stop and Start.

Starting and Stopping the Operating System
To start the operating system:
1.
Turn on power to the system.
2.
At the boot menu, select the appropriate operating system option, and then press
ENTER
.
To log on to the operating system:
1.
If the logon dialog does not display, press
CTRL
+
ALT
+
DELETE
to display it.
2.
If user accounts have been set up, type a user name and a password into the appropriate fields.
3.
If appropriate, type a domain name into the appropriate field.
4.
Select OK or press
ENTER
.
To log off, restart, shut down, or power down the system:
1.
Press the Power button momentarily (less than 1 second). Automatic Shutdown runs and the
shutdown timer begins counting down.
2.
Select a shutdown option and click Start Shutdown.
3.
If you chose an option that requires you to power down the system manually, you can do so
when prompted that it is safe to do so.
