must remain at least 35 mm). When attempting to push the bike forward wheels must remain
blocked.
2. Checking rim brakes and cables
-
Brake cables must be clean and undamaged, must be properly fastened whit screws.
-
Make a check of brakes screws by pulling the brake arms (see photo), you should see a very
small motion (hand brakes should not be fixed, must carry their movement natural without
lock).
Verification of correct operation of brake pads is done by operating the brake until the pads come in
contact with the rim and must find that the brake pads are pressing along the brake surface with their
entire length and that they are aligned with it. Releasing the brake should find that the distance
between the pads and rim is equal on both sides. When pads you must check the wear.
This is done releasing the brake arms of the guide J and then visually observing if the wear has been
exceeded the allowed level.
3. Checking hydraulic disk brakes
Dirty brake disks may reduce braking efficiency to zero. Initiate urgent cleaning.
After more intensive use of the brakes, discs will be very hot and there is a risk of
burn if you touch them.
-
Caliper fixing verification is done by trying to move it by hand in any direction. You must not be
able to move it at all.
