This chapter introduces you to the following LDC-3908 functions: 1) Save and Recall feature; 2)
external modulation of laser current.
Saving and Recalling from the Front Panel
For applications where you may need to alternate between particular instrument configurations, the
LDC-3908 Controller offers a unique Save and Recall feature. The Save feature allows you to store
all front panel settings easily for any given instrument configuration. These settings, which are
stored in one of ten memory bins, can be retrieved at any time with the Recall function. This saves
setup time, and it reduces the chance of setup error for tests which are periodically repeated.
To access the Save/Recall mode, select SAV/REC from the System Configuration menu. To save the
existing settings of the LDC-3908 (all settings on all channels will be saved), select the bin for
saving. Then, press the Save soft key.
To recall a previously saved instrument set up, first select the recall bin. Then press the Recall soft
key. A checksum from each module is used to ensure that the recalled setup matches the user's
expectation (in case a module was changed or fails to restore properly). A warning will be displayed
if a checksum error is found.

The default setting may be retrieved by entering the Default display. See Chapter 3 for remote
execution of the Save and Recall functions.
