For safety reasons, the ESD wrist strap should contain a series 1
megaohm resistor.

Procedure

Remove the chassis door (“Removing a chassis door” on page 187) if not
already removed.

Remove the cable management comb (“Removing cable management comb” on
page 185).

Remove the port, extension, blades or filler panels (“Removing a blade” on
page 111 and “Removing a filler panel” on page 181).

Remove the core routing blades (“Removing a core routing blade” on page
124).

Remove the control processor blades (“Removing a blade” on page 135).

Remove the power supply assemblies or filler panels (“Removing a power
supply” on page 168).

Remove the fan assemblies (“Removing a fan assembly” on page 178).

Installing the replacement chassis

About this task

Complete the following steps to install the replacement chassis.

A completely empty chassis weighs approximately 24.49 kg (54.0 lb)
and requires a hydraulic or assisted lift to install it.

Make sure the rack housing the device is adequately secured to
prevent it from becoming unstable or falling over.

Procedure

If the chassis is in a rack, remove it from the rack.

Place the chassis on a lift or on the shipping pallet provided with the original
chassis and transport to storage location.

Unpack the new chassis.

Cut the bands that encircle the packaging.
