Installing Internal Drives

Installing a Drive in a Hot-Swap Bay

Before you begin:

Be sure you have:

Read “Electrical Safety” on page 63 and “Handling
Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 65 (or your safety booklet).

Unlocked and opened the door

Opened the right front door (see “Preparing to Install
Options” on page 66 and “Preinstallation Steps (All Bays)”
on page 155).

Unlocked any padlock securing the EMI metal panel, and
remove the lock.

Notes:

1. The right-hand bays support hot-swap drives only.

2. You do not have to turn off the server to install hot-swap drives

in these bays. However, you must turn off the server when
performing the steps that involve installing or removing cables.
