Installing a Microprocessor

 

21. If you have no other options to install, replace the cover on the

server (see “Completing the Installation” on page 197) and
reconnect the cables and power cord (see step 7 on page 201).

22. Because you installed a new microprocessor in your server, you

might want to upgrade your operating system. You must
update your server configuration.

a. Run the Setup program. See Chapter 2, “Configuring Your

Server” on page 29 for instructions.

b. If you have not already done so, install an operating system.

Refer to “Getting Customer Support and Service” on
page 263 for instructions on how to obtain the latest
information about SMP operating systems supported by
your server. Refer to the information provided with the
ServerGuide package. Also, review the operating-system
information in your SCSI Software User's Guide, if your
server is a non-disk-array model, or in the documentation
provided with your RAID adapter, if your server is a
disk-array model.

c. If applicable, record your updated configuration information

in the appropriate tables in “Installed Device Records” on
page 272. Then, return here to determine your next step.
