Replacing the Real-Time Clock

 

2. Remove the RTC from its socket (system-board connector)

with an appropriate tool.

3. If you plan to reinstall the same RTC later, store it in a

static-protective bag.

4. If you plan to dispose of the RTC, adhere to the local ordinance

requirements and the manufacturer's instructions for
lithium-battery disposal. In addition, observe the
lithium-battery cautions in this section.

5. Remove the replacement RTC from the static-protective package.

Do not touch the pins on the RTC.
