Connect the LAN Cable

The LAN cable is recommended because each active partition reports errors to the
HMC’s Service Focal Point application through the LAN network. The HMC must be
attached to the system’s LAN, and each partition should have a LAN adapter assigned
as a resource.

Connect the LAN to the adapters assigned to each partition and to the LAN connection
on the HMC system hardware.

Plug in the HMC Power Cords

1. Plug in the power cord, as shown in the following illustration.

2. Plug the power cords for the monitor, HMC, and modem into electrical outlets.
