Reliability, availability, and serviceability
Three important server design features are reliability, availability, and serviceability
(RAS). The RAS features help to ensure the integrity of the data that is stored in
the server, the availability of the server when you need it, and the ease with which
you can diagnose and repair problems.
The server might have the following RAS features (the features vary depending on
your model):
v
1-year parts and 1-year labor limited warranty for machine type 7836 and 3-year
parts and 3-year labor limited warranty for machine type 7837.
v
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)
v
Advanced Desktop Management Interface (DMI) features
v
Automatic error retry or recovery
v
Automatic memory downsizing on error detection
v
Automatic restart on nonmaskable interrupt (NMI)
v
Automatic Server Restart (ASR) logic supporting a system restart when the
operating system becomes unresponsive
v
Automatic server restart after a power failure, based on the UEFI setting
v
Availability of microcode level
