Maintenance Analysis Procedures (MAPs)
Step 7
(from Steps 1, 2, and 4)
1. Set the power button on the CPU Enclosure to Off.
2. Unplug both PDB outlet power cords from both power supply power cords.
3. Record the slot numbers of the adapters. Label and record the location of any cables
attached to the adapters.
4. Remove all the MCA adapters except the SCSI adapter attached to the CD-ROM drive.
5. Remove all SCSI devices except the CD-ROM drive that is attached to the SCSI adapter
that you left in the system.
6. Plug both PDB outlet power cords into both power supply power cords.
7. Set the power button on the CPU Enclosure to On.
8. If the Maintenance Menu is displayed, select
System Boot
, then Boot From List.
9. If the system stops with a

displayed, and the Main Menu is displayed, Select
Exit
Main Menu and Start System (Boot)
and press Enter. When the “Starting
System Boot” menu displays, press Enter. Repeat this procedure each time these
conditions occur.
10.Wait for one of the following conditions to occur:
•
The system stops with
c31
displayed in the operator panel display.
•
The same three digit number is displayed in the operator panel display for longer than
three minutes except for the number

which may display for up to ten minutes with
no activity on the BUMP console.
•
The number
888
is flashing in the operator panel display.

displayed in the operator panel display

NO
One of the FRUs remaining in the CPU Enclosure is defective.
In the following order, exchange the FRUs that have not been exchanged:
1. SCSI adapter
2. CD-ROM drive
3. SCSI cable
4. I/O card (IOC)
5. I/O planars
6. CPU module flex cables
7. I/O module flex cables
8. System planar (SP)
9. System interface board (SIB)
10.Power distribution cable cluster
11. CPU cards (CPU) (one at a time)
12.Memory cards (MC) (one at a time)
13.Power supply (PS)
Repeat Step 7 until the defective FRU is identified or all the FRUs have
been exchanged.
If the symptom did not change and all the FRUs have been exchanged call
your service support person for assistance.
If the symptom has changed check for loose cards, cables, and obvious
problems. If you do not find a problem return to Step 1 in this MAP and
follow the instructions for the new symptom.
