Creating Connections
RDP
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) allows a "thin client" to communicate with a terminal server across a
Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) by means of a dial-up, Integrated Services
Digital Network (ISDN), Digital Subscriber, Line (DSL), or Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.
RDP is designed to provide remote display and input capabilities over network connections for
Windows-based applications running on a server.
This section describes the procedure to create a connection to a Windows Terminal Server using
Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol.

1. Click the Configure tab in the Terminal Connection Manager then click the Add button to display
the New Connection dialog box.
2. Select Microsoft Remote Desktop Client from the drop-down list and click OK . The first dialog-box
of the WTS Connection Wizard is displayed.
3. Provide a unique name for the new connection, and the IP address of the server in the Name and
Server fields respectively. The connection name that you provide here will be displayed in the
Terminal Connection Manager window.
