To ensure remote management and maintenance, complete the remote modem configuration
before performing any service configuration.
Using a remote dialup from a TD-56000III modem through the public switched telephone
network (PSTN) to the serial port of the VIS6000 as an example, this document introduces the
configuration process of a remote modem.
NOTE
l
Before configuring a modem, ensure that the equipment room of the customer has telephone access to
the PSTN and is configured with an external modem.
l
When the maintenance terminal communicates with the VIS6000 through the PSTN, data is not
transmitted through the Internet; thus the data security is ensured. Moreover, powering off the modem
when the maintenance terminal does not carry out remote maintenance ensures the security further.
For remote maintenance through modems, two modems are required. One modem is the remote
modem, and the other modem is the local modem.
