IP Networking Principles
The IP networking principles are described as follows:

The IP addresses of the GE service port and the management network port must be
configured on different network segments.
l
All the GE service ports of one controller must be configured on different network
segments.
l
192.168.1.0, 192.168.2.0, and 192.168.3.0 are three reserved network segments of the
VIS6000. When setting the IP address for the GE service port, you should avoid setting an
IP address within the three network segments. If you need to set an IP address within the
three network segments, avoid the following IP addresses: 192.168.1.10, 192.168.1.11,
192.168.2.10, 192.168.2.11, 192.168.3.10, and 192.168.3.11.

When connecting the VIS6000 in the production center to the AS, storage array, or the
VIS6000 in the disaster recovery center, you are recommended to use different GE service
ports of the VIS6000 in the production center. When these items are configured on different
network segments, configure the corresponding routing information.
NOTE
•When connecting the VIS6000 in the production center to the AS, storage array, or the VIS6000 in
the disaster recovery center, you are recommended to avoid using the same GE service ports of the
VIS6000 in the production center.

One Ethernet switch can form a subnet. Two or more Ethernet switches can also be
connected to form a subnet.
3.2 Typical Networking Modes for Storage Virtualization
This section introduces typical networking modes for storage virtualization.
The VIS6000 can manage heterogeneous storage devices and supports heterogeneous AS
environments.

each controller of the VIS6000 has an FC interface module in interface card slot 0, ASs are of
two types: Linux and AIX, and storages arrays are Huawei S5000 storage array and EMC
