Washing Equipment
Never use a high pressure equipment to wash the
motorcycle. Direct water jets and high temperatures
may damage motorcycle components. High pressure
causes the loosening of strips and adhesives, and
removal of steering stem bearing and rear suspension
linkage grease. Paint could also be removed by high
pressure. Do not apply alkaline or acid products. They
are highly harmful to zinc-plated and aluminum parts.
We recommend spraying low pressure water through
“fan shaped” strokes at 1.2 m (4 ft) minimum from the
motorcycle. HONDA
Avoid spraying high-pressure water or air (common at
car washes) at the following:
•
Wheel hubs
•
Handlebar switches
•
Carburetor
•
Brake master cylinder
•
Instruments
•
Muffler outlet
•
Under the seat
•
Under the fuel tank
•
Steering head
•
Ignition switch
•
Drive chain
•
Headlight
– Eventually humidity may condense inside the
headlight lens after washing the motorcycle. It will
gradually disappear by turning the high beam on.
Keep the engine running while the headlight is on.
– The lower end of the exhaust pipe has holes to drain
condensed liquids resulting from the engine
combustion process. These liquids may accumulate
in the exhaust pipe, especially in the area around
the drain holes. The deposits are easily removed by
following the normal cleaning procedures. Do not
obstruct the drain holes.
Apply low pressure water at 1.2 m (4 ft)
minimum from the motorcycle.
