Allowing the kickstarter to snap back freely
against the pedal stop can damage the crankcase.
•••••
Do not operate the kickstarter pedal while the
engine is running as engine damage could result.
•••••
To avoid damage, do not apply excessive force to
the kickstarter pedal.
•••••
Fold the kickstarter pedal up to the pedal stop
after it returns.

2. Start the engine by pressing the starter button and
leaving the throttle slightly open.
NOTE
Do not use the electric starter for more than 5 seconds
at a time. Release the starter button for approximately
10 seconds before pressing it again.
3. Immediately after the engine starts, push the choke
lever down to the detent position (B).
4. Warm up the engine by opening and closing the
throttle slightly.
5. Keep warming the engine up until it idles smoothly
and responds to the throttle with the choke lever
pushed down all the way to fully OFF (C).
Hot Engine
1. Do not use the choke.
2. Start the engine following step 2 under “Cold
Engine.”

Because of its closeness and shape, the exhaust
pipe curved section is subjected to high
temperatures. This may change the chromed layer
color, turning it into yellow or, in extreme cases,
into blue. This is a normal condition for
motorcycles properly maintained.

Extended use of the choke may impair piston and
cylinder lubrication, damaging the engine.
