3.9. Verifying Scanned Cases
When using DigitalNow at some facilities, the system will require you to ‘verify’
scanned cases before you archive them. The verification step is configured by going to
the Controls Connectivity screen and setting ‘Verification before sending Output’ to
‘On’ (see ‘
5.2. Connectivity Options ’).
Important! Hologic recommends that facilities using DigitalNow always verify the
images before archiving them to reduce the chance of improperly oriented or identified
images being sent to a PACS. Also, from time to time, be sure to check images received
at the PACS to confirm that films continue to be properly scanned and digitized.
Note: The Verification option is only available for systems configured with the
DigitalNow license. Systems that are configured with just the ImageChecker license do
not provide the Verification option.
If your system has been configured to require verification, then after the system
processes the cases it displays a blinking question mark on each study icon. The
question mark also appears on the Studies screen tab at the lower left of the screen.

To verify cases

Touch the study icon for the case you want to verify. The system displays the results
for the selected study.

Review the case results. Check to see that the images are oriented correctly and that
the patient information was retrieved successfully from the archive.

Touch the Done button or make corrections.

If the results are acceptable, touch the Done button. In response, the system
transmits the results to the archive or other output device.

If the results are not acceptable, or if the system produced an alert for the case, you
may need to take corrective action. In some situations, you may need to reorient
or label images by using the Image Correction screen. For more information, see
‘3.10. Correcting Scanned Images’.

Repeat these steps for each case needing verification.
