Device Serial Number Example
(for ‘DROC’ workstations): YourSerial#83302fe6

The first characters are usually ‘YourSerial#’.

The last eight characters are hexadecimal digits and must be lowercase. Only 0–9 and
a–f are allowed.
Origin / How to Get It
: The last eight characters are the hexadecimal output of running
the ‘hostid’ command on the acquisition workstation computer. This is the host ID of the
Sun workstation. Siemens populates their DICOM headers with the string
‘Yourhostid#’ in the Device Serial Number tag (0018, 1000).

(for syngo-based workstations): 1001
Origin / How to Get It
: The ID is taken from the input in the syngo configuration page
‘site information: serial number’ and contains the system serial number. Siemens
populates their DICOM headers with this serial number in the Device Serial Number tag
(0018, 1000).
