1.6 Types of Leakage Current Measurement

Additions to IEC 60601-1:2005 3rd Edition

Patient leakage current is current that takes the following route: "metal accessible part not protectively
earthed



applied part



human body



Earth." Use this standard to measure medical equipment with

patient connection

applied parts

that are not protectively earthed (B-type or BF-type) and with metal

accessible parts that are not protectively earthed.
Instead of connecting damaged medical equipment to generate a

single-fault condition

, input a voltage

that is 110% of the rated voltage to metal accessible parts not protectively earthed. (Use the T3 terminal
on the instrument)

This test is not required for
