Connecting to a client system or a Harmonic MediaGrid for file transfers
Connect your Spectrum video server to your Ethernet network for file transfers with a client system or a
Harmonic MediaGrid.
When planning your Ethernet network, it is important to understand that Ethernet ports on your Spectrum
server can be configured to optimize bandwidth or provide fail-over support, but not both. For details, refer
to the
Harmonic SystemManager User Guide
.
Before you begin
NOTE:
Make sure that a network switch with adequate uplink capability has been installed
in your equipment rack.
Note that support for Jumbo Frames (Ethernet packets larger than 1500 bytes) on Spectrum video
servers is disabled. You can enable Jumbo Frames using the SystemManager by accessing the network
settings of your Spectrum system. For instructions on accessing the network settings, refer to the
Harmonic SystemManager User Guide
.
Connecting a MediaDirector or a MediaCenter to a client system for file transfers

rear panel for file transfers.
IMPORTANT:
For the following connections, use only a CAT 6 Ethernet cable or better.
