Connecting to the Ethernet network

1. Make sure that an Ethernet switch with Gigabit uplink capability has been installed in your equipment

rack.

2. Choose one of the following:

• If using the SystemManager, attach an Ethernet cable to the LAN1 port on the SystemManager

platform or an open LAN port on the client PC. Attach the other end of the Ethernet cable to the

Gigabit Ethernet switch. Do not use the LAN2 port on the SystemManager platform

• If using Spectrum Management, attach an Ethernet cable to an open Ethernet port on your client

system, and then attach the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Gigabit Ethernet switch.

3. Attach an Ethernet cable to one of the two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the rear panel of the Spectrum X.

Attach the other end to an open port on your Gigabit Ethernet switch.
