Internal 9V backup battery
The internal 9V battery serves as backup for the hydroSpider’s state information, including the
system date and time, counters, alarm state, when the modem should perform retries, and other
current system information. Without a 9V battery installed, this information will be lost when power
is disconnected from the unit.
By installing a 9V backup battery, the hydroSpider will enter a special sleep mode if external power is
ever disconnected. In this sleep mode, the hydroSpider will not perform its normal operations
(logging, alarming, reporting, etc.), but the state information will be saved. Normal operation will
then automatically resume when external power returns to 12V.
To insert the backup battery, open up the hydroSpider and connect a standard 9V battery to the
battery clip. Insert the battery into the metal holder as shown in the picture below.

The hydroSpider has three connector groups on the right side of the case – Antenna, I/O and Power,
and Comms. These are shown in the image below:
