SECTION 4 –
ENGINE AND DRIVE SYSTEMS
•
Refer to “Service - Fluids” provided in
the
Maintenance and Storage Section
elsewhere in this manual for additional
information.
Fluid Disposal:
•
Check with local authority regulations on
proper DEF disposal requirements.
DEF Gauge
The DEF Gauge (located on the cab
A-post) allows the operator to view current
DEF tank level at all times.
DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst)
The DOC reduces carbon monoxide and
hydrocarbons produced by the engine.
DRT (Decomposition Reactor Tube)
The DRT is a mixer tube where DEF is
injected and mixes with exhaust from the
diesel engine, which is then converted into
ammonia.
SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
The SCR is where the DEF reduces
gaseous nitrogen oxide (NOx) to near zero
levels by converting into nitrogen gas and
water vapor.
DEF Dosing Module
The DEF Dosing Module allows a fine
mist of DEF to be sprayed into the hot
exhaust.
DEF Supply Module
The DEF Supply Module pumps DEF
from the tank to the Dosing Injector (located
in the DRT).
DEF Supply Module Filter
The DEF Supply Module Filter (located
near the bottom of the DEF Supply Module)
filters DEF before going to the Dosing
Injector. Change filter every 4,500 hours of
operation or every 3 years, whichever occurs
first.
NOTE: Refer to the engine manufacturer’s
operation manual for further
information.
