Firebird 2 User’s Guide
Chapter 7 – Troubleshooting
Why does my aircraft, ship, or game character drift?
1.
Your game’s calibration settings may be incorrect.
See your game’s manual for instructions on calibration. Select the topic
Calibration from the Control Console’s Help for more information on joystick
and software calibration.
2.
Your game card’s speed setting may be incorrect.
If you have a speed-compensating game card, and your game port speed has
changed for some reason – or you changed the speed setting for a specific
game – your speed adjustment setting may be incorrect. Adjust the speed
adjustment knob (if there is one) or run the speed adjustment program that
came with your game card or with your game port-equipped sound card. Then
run the game’s joystick calibration program.
3.
Another device may be conflicting with your game port.
Follow the instructions for Solution 2 in the previous section.
4.
If you’re running a DOS game in a Windows 95 DOS box:
Win 95 puts itself between the joystick and the game software, so it may
interfere with the joystick calibration of a game that is written to access joystick
readings directly.
