7.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The hydraulic system can be described as a basic
open circuit. This simply means that oil is drawn from
the reservoir by the pump and delivered through the six
directional spools via a pressure filter to the drive
motors or hydraulic cylinders. All returning oil is
delivered back to the reservoir through a return line
filter.
Hydraulic Pump
The fixed displacement gear pump is direct coupled to
the engine via a bell housing and flexible coupling. The
pump has a displacement of 11 cu. cms/rev. the pump
delivery is constant for a given engine speed, as the
engine speed is increased, so is the pump output deliv-
ery.
Directional Control Valve Bank
The directional control valve bank is the control center
of the machine. The six section valve bank is located at
the operators console.
Hydraulic Reservoir
The large hydraulic reservoir (56 liters) is an integral
part of the machine main frame. Fluid level is moni-
tored with the aid of a dip-stick.
Hydraulic Oil Filters
The hydraulic system is protected by two filters, a
pressure filter immediately down stream of the gear
pump and a return line filter mounted on a stand-pipe
at the right hand side of the reservoir (opposite the
dipstick fill point). Both filters are fitted with 10 micron
elements.
