18.Apply grease to a new seal ring (4) and insert it in
the seal ring groove exposed on the manifold.
19.Assemble the commutator ring (6) over alignment,
studs onto the manifold.
20.Assemble a new seal ring (3) flat side up, into
commutator (5) and assemble commutator over the
end of drive link (10) onto manifold (7) with seal
ring side up.
21.Assemble a new seal ring (4) into end cover (2)
and assemble end cover over the alignment studs
and onto the commutator set.
NOTE: If the end cover has a valve (24) or has five bolt
holes, use the line you previously scribed on the cover
to radially align the end cover into its original position.
22.Assemble the 7 special bolts (1) and screw in
finger tight. Remove and replace the two alignment
studs with bolts after the other bolts are in place.
Alternately and progressively tighten the bolts to
pull the end cover and other components into place
with a final torque of, 45.45 lbs (61.75 Nm for the
ME series 3/8-24 threaded bolts.

Wheel Removal
NOTE: If using a powered “impact” device for removing
wheel nuts, skip Step 1 and go straight to Step 2.
1. Using a socket wrench, loosen the wheel nuts half
a turn (see note above).
2. Place the unit securely on stands to lift the wheels
off the ground.
3. Remove wheels nuts and wheels.
4. When replacing wheels, torque all wheel nuts 95
Nm (70 ft./lbs.).
Drive Description
All four wheels of the unit are driven by two final drive
trains, one driving the two wheels on the left hand side
and the other driving the wheels on the right hand side.
The front hub of each drive is direct coupled to a
hydraulic motor. The rear hubs are mounted on a fixed
axle with the hubs running on tapered roller bearings.
The front hub drives are connected to the rear hubs by
a roller chain. A sliding chain tensioner takes up slack
in the chain. The chain tensioner is self compensating
for direction of travel. The final drive trains are enclosed
with a steel chain guard. Each of the two roller chains
are fitted with two “Half Links” that can be removed to
shorten the chain as chain wear and slackness
increase.
