5.2 GASOLINE ENGINE REMOVAL
Engine Flexible Mountings
Check the engine flexible mountings for condition and
security. If the rubber mountings show signs of “perish-
ing” or cracking they should be replaced with new
mountings. Check all fasteners for tightness.
The gasoline engine is easily removed through the
back of the unit frame.
1. Disconnect the battery terminals.
2. Remove four (4) socket head cap screws that
secure the bell housing to the engine. When the
engine is removed, half of the coupling will remain
attached to the engine output shaft.
3. Disconnect the battery ground wire from the
engine.
4. Remove fuel line from fuel filter. Be prepared to
catch or clean up any spilled gasoline.
5. Remove the operator presence plate. The
presence switch may be removed to provide
additional clearance.
6. Disconnect wires on the right hand side of the
engine. Mark them for engine installation.
7. The fuel pipe under the engine should be removed.
Unscrew the nut for the flared fitting on each side.
Be prepared to catch or clean up any spilled
gasoline.
8. Remove the exhaust pipe extension. Unscrew the
bolt for the clamp and slide the extension off.
9. Unscrew the four (4) mounting nuts at the motor
mounting plate. The engine can now be lifted off
the studs and moved out the back of the unit.
5.3 GASOLINE ENGINE INSTALLATION
To install the engine, reverse the previous steps.
Be certain that the operator presence plate moves
freely and that the fuel lines do not leak.
To mount the engine coupling to the hydraulic coupling,
rotate the engine output shaft in small increments to
match the coupling to the spider insert.
5.4 DIESEL ENGINE
When the unit is equipped with a diesel engine, a
number of special parts and attachments are used.
Pump Coupling and Bell Housing
The engine side pump coupling is attached directly to
the engine flywheel using five socket head cap screws.
The engine coupling half is spigoted into a recess in
the flywheel, this ensures proper location and
concentricity.
WARNING: Be certain that the exhaust
system is cool before removing the extension
or burns will result.
