3. INSTALLATION

INTRODUCTION

The document includes a step-by-step installation instruction of the VERTEX control system
components.

PREPARATION

The installation shall be made according to the design, taking into account:

•

length of cables which must not be exceeded;

•

type and protection degree of connected devices which shall conform to the regulations.

The VERTEX control units can be installed in lighting switchgears or in separate enclosures in
switchgears.

COMPATIBILITY CHECK OF DALI AND DALI-2 ACTUATORS

Before installation, verify the compatibility of actuators (power supplies, ballasts, relays, etc.) with the
DALI  communication  standard.  The  input  devices  (buttons,  sensors,  presence  detectors,  etc.)  shall
conform to the DALI-s communication standard.
If there is no information about conformity with standards, contact the manufacturer and determine the
conformity  with  DALI/DALI-2  on  the  list  of  certified  components    at  the  Digital  Illumination  Interface
Alliance (DIIA) website

The VERTEX control unit correctly operates with the devices conforming to DALI and DALI-2
standards:

In case of other actuators, the control unit will support only the basic functions.

INSTALLATION OF THE DALI BUS CABLING

The DALI bus shall be installed in accordance with good electrical practice.
Use copper conductors of 1.5 mm

minimum cross section.

Connect the communication buses to electrical switchgears in which the control cabinets control unit
will be installed and to all actuators (luminaires, buttons, sensors). Use only the allowed bus topologies
described in the section below and observe the electrical regulations.

Note!

The maximum number of devices on DALI bus is 64. Pay particular attention to luminaires with more
than one power supply/ ballast/ DALI relay, as each of them counts as a separate device.
