Installation & Setup Guide
Xedge 6640/6645 Chassis
Xedge 6640 and 6645 are 16-slot chassis that allows full redundancy by employing main and
standby slot-0 controllers, main and standby switch fabric, and backup power supplies. Both chassis
models also accommodate a Fan Tray Assembly and Network Timing Modules (NTM).
Xedge 6640/6645 Technical Specifications
The Xedge 6640/6645 chassis obtain power from one or two power feeds and up to four power
supplies for full power redundancy. The Xedge 6640 is an AC-powered chassis that employs GPS-
14 AC supplies; the Xedge 6640 is a DC-powered chassis that employs DPS-14 DC supplies.
The installation and operation information in this section applies to both the Xedge 6640 and 6645
chassis, except where noted.

Note
1. The Xedge 6640 chassis comes with two North American line cords. Non-US line cords are optional.
2. At 100VAC, the maximum output current must not exceed 140A to comply with safety requirements.
CAUTION
Do not block the openings on the top and bottom of the chassis.
CAUTION
When installing two chassis in the same cabinet or open rack, provide space above and
below each chassis for adequate ventilation as described in the paragraphs below.
CAUTION
Do not install power modules in the chassis until the chassis is properly mounted int the cabinet.
CAUTION
A fully loaded chassis weighs approximately 130 pounds (59 Kg). Lifting a fully loaded
chassis requires two people. Before moving the chassis, take all necessary precautions to prevent
equipment damage and avoid personal injury. Be sure to disconnect all cables.
