Special Considerations
Once a pair of SC-SDT devices are configured and passing data, you can make configuration
changes to either device but you should be aware that a shared port configuration is in effect. That
is, during the configuration process, corresponding ports on either side of the link will try to
dynamically mirror changes made to tport configuration and to tport enable/disable. Other
configuration changes will not be mirrored. To efficiently reconfigure a port that is connected and
passing data, perform the following steps:
1. If desired, use the
chat
command to notify another CLI user that you are intentionally
disabling the link. See Chapter 5, Additional Features for information on the Call/Hello
function.
2. Disable the port to be reconfigured by typing:
configure ports disable port
[n]
or
all
3. Clear the configuration on the port to be configured by typing:
configure ports clr-tport port
[n] or
all
4. The following system message appears:
SYS MSG: Clear Config transport for port
[n]
5. Reconfigure the port as desired.
6. Check the settings by typing:
•
Type
show config
to display the current configuration of the SC-SDT, or check the
ports by typing either of the following commands:
show ports general
show ports tport
•
Test your network by pinging from your PC/workstation at the NOC to equipment at the
remote office, and vice-versa.
•
Use the ping utility to check connectivity
7. Enable each reconfigured port by typing:
configure ports enable port
[n]
or
all
Note
To configure additional features available in the SC-SDT, refer to Chapter 5, Additional Features for details.
