Initializing the SC-SDT for Configuration
1. Ensure your workstation is equipped with communication software (i.e., Hyperterminal) for
making a VT-100 connection. Consult your PC’s operating system documentation for details.
2. For initial configuration of a SC-SDT, you must configure a VT100-compatible terminal for
the following settings:
9600,8,
N,1
3. Connect the terminal to the SC-SDT
CRAFT
(console) port using a straight-thru RS232
DB25 cable.
4. Make a Hyperterminal connection to the
CRAFT
port.
5. Hit <
CR
> a few times or press
CTRL-R
. The following login screen will appear, followed by
a command line prompt:

For online help screens describing all CLI options, press

Note that the CLI options for configuring the
SC-SDT are only available when you have enabled Supervisor or Admin privileges.
6. Enable supervisor privileges by typing
enable <cr>
.
When prompted for the password, type:
supervisor <cr>
[default supervisor password]
7. The SC-SDT is now operating in supervisor mode as shown by the
#
symbol in the new CLI
prompt, with all CLI options available.
8. You can now configure the SC-SDT to suit your network by typing the required configurations
commands at the CLI prompt. You do not need to set parameters that coincide with system
defaults. Any configuration changes will take affect immediately.
Note
FOR ADVANCED USERS: The SC-SDT provides a utility for generating the configuration settings of a
SC-SDT into an ASCII file, simplifying the configuration of multiple SC-SDT cards. This function can also be
used to archive configuration data for specific unit or as a baseline for modified configurations.
