There are two main ways to configure PTP on a given environment related to the
VLANs. Using VLANs and do not using VLANs. The following topics will cover both
situations.

PTP usage with VLANs
Consider the assumptions below:
1. PTP information given by PTP Grandmaster Clock as:
o
Domain 0;
o
Transmitted over Ethernet with VID 30 and PCP 4;
o
Operation mode is two-step;
o
Delay mechanism is peer-to-peer.
In addition, switches should be transparent clocks to the slaves.
In this situation, be sure that VLAN 30 is created and ports that should be member of
PTP VLAN are correctly configured at the Settings VLANs menu. If necessary, the
first example of this chapter can guide on how to configure a VLAN in Reason
Switches.
With information given above, it is possible to go to the Settings PTP menu to start
configuration process. The configuration of the PTP should be as follows:
By default, no PTP clock instances are available. Thus, it is necessary to create an
instance to be used as P2P transparent clock. Click at the Add New PTP Clock button
to create a new instance.
After instance is displayed, configuration of the parameters should be as follows:
o
Clock instance should be set to 0;
o
Device Type should be set to P2pTransp;
o
2 Step Flag field should be set to True;
o
Clock identify should not be changed;
o
One Way should be set to False;
o
Protocol should be set to Ethernet;
o
VLAN Tag Enable checkbox should be enabled;
o
VLAN Identifier (VID) should be 30;
o
Priority bits (PCP) should be set to 4;
