Replacing tie bars

The following setup assumes that the bottom flange and column tube have been removed
from the column tube assembly (see Servicing the column tube assembly, on page 136).

Use a wrench to loosen and unscrew the damaged tie bar(s) [901] connected to the
top bayonet [804].

Screw in a new tie bar to one of the tie bar holes by hand and tighten using a wrench
at the key handles.

One of the ends of each tie bar has a short flattened length before the
thread. This flattened end should be used to screw into the top bayonet.

Note:

Repeat for other tie bars as appropriate.

Continue reassembly of the column (see Servicing the column tube assembly, on
page 136).
