Emptying the column

WARNING

Remove the mechanical locking equipment before unpacking the
column. If it is not removed over-pressure may inadvertently be
created in the hydraulic chamber.

1

Unpack the column (see Section 5.5 Unpacking a packed column, on page 102).

2

Remove the adapter and top plate assembly (see Removing the top plate and adapter,
on page 49).

3

Release the pin at the pivot stand, if used, tilt the column and pour out medium into
a container.

4

Pump in packing liquid upflow if needed to help in pouring the medium.
