Control Panel Installation
Battery Power
4.5 Battery Power
The batteries must be sealed lead acid type. Before connecting the batteries to the FACP, make certain that the interconnect cable between the
batteries is not connected. Do not connect the battery jumper cable until the system is completely installed. Observe polarity when connect-
ing the batteries.
The control panel battery charge capacity is 7.0 to 35 AH. The main control cabinet can house batteries up to 7 AH, larger capacity batteries
can be housed in a Remote Battery Box (P/N RBB). See Section 4.5.1 for deteails.Use 12V batteries of the same AH rating. Determine the
correct AH rating as per your current load calculation (see Section 3.5).
Maximum battery charging current 3.1 Amps.
Wire batteries in series to produce a 24VDC equivalent. Do not parallel batteries to increase the AH rating.
The following steps and diagram explain how to connect the batteries.
1.
Connect the black wire from the control panel negative (–) battery terminal to the negative (–) side of Battery #2.
2.
Connect the jumper wire provided (P/N 140694) from the positive (+) side of Battery #2 to the (–) negative side of Battery #1.
3.
Connect the red wire from the control panel positive (+) terminal to the positive (+) side of Battery #1.

4.5.1 Battery Accessory Cabinet
The BB-17F Accessory cabinet can be used when your backup batteries requirements use backup batteries that are too large to fit into the
main control panel cabinet. The BB-17F cabinet holds two 17AH batteries. The BB-17F dimensions are 8.5” L x 14.5” W x 4.75” D
(21.59cm L x 36.83cmW x 12.07cm D. Refer to the
BB-17F Installation Document
, P/N 15736, for more information.
Installing the BB-17F Cabinet and Batteries
1.
Remove knockouts in the bottom of the FACP cabinet and the top of the BB-17F cabinet.
2.
Align knockouts in FACP and BB-17F. Anchor the BB-17F to the wall using 1/4” diameter holes in back of cabinet.
3.
Run conduit between the BB-17F cabinet and the FACP cabinet. Ensure there is at least 6” (15.24 cm) of clearance between the BB-17F
and the FACP.
4.
Run battery cable through conduit from FACP into battery box. Connect cable to batteries.
5.
Secure the BB-17F cover to cabinet using supplied self-threading screws.
4.6 Wiring Specifications
4.6.1 Length Limitations
This section contains information on calculating SBUS wire distances and the types of wiring configurations (Class A and B).
4.6.2 Calculating Wiring Distance for SBUS Modules
The following instructions will guide you in determining the type of wire and the maximum wiring distance that can be used with SBUS
accessory modules.
!
WARNING: RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY
BATTERY CONTAINS SULFURIC ACID WHICH CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNS TO THE SKIN AND EYES AND CAN
DESTROY FABRICS. IF CONTACT IS MADE WITH SULFURIC ACID, IMMEDIATELY FLUSH THE SKIN OR EYES WITH
WATER FOR 15 MINUTES AND SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
