10. Removing spliced fiber
(1) Open the lids of the tube heater.
(2)
Open wind protector. The splicer
performs the proof test.
(3) Hold the left fiber with left hand at the
edge of wind protector and open the lid
of left fiber holder.
(4) Open the lid of the right fiber holder.
(5) Hold the right fiber with the right hand
and remove spliced fiber from the
splicer.
11. Heating protection sleeve
(1)
Transfer fiber with protection sleeve
from the centering device to the tube
heater.
(2) Place fiber and protection sleeve in tube
heater. While placing it in the tube
heater, apply tension to the fiber so the
tube heater lids automatically close.
(3) Press to start the tube heater. The HEAT mark is displayed during heating.
The buzzer beeps and the
mark turns off when the heating cycle finishes.
(4) Open the tube heater lids and remove the protected fiber from the tube heater.
Apply tension to the fiber while removing it from the tube heater.
(5) Visually inspect the finished sleeve to verify that no bubbles or debris/dust are
present in the sleeve.
• Keep holding fiber until fiber is
completely transferred to the tube
heater.
• Protection sleeve may stick to the bottom plate of the heater. Use a cotton
swab to help remove sleeve from heater.
•If is pressed twice, the tube heating process is aborted.
Hold left fiber with left hand at the
edge of wind protector.
•Make sure the splice point is located at the center of the protection sleeve.
•Make sure the strength member in the protection sleeve is on the bottom.
•Make sure the fiber is not twisted.
