[Loop Back to OPM PORT] screen

[Connect Test Port to Unit Z] screen

Two TURBOTEST 500B units are required to perform bi-directional insertion loss tests on a single fiber.
One unit must be operating in the [OLTS] test mode while another - in the [REMOTE] test mode. When
the [OLTS] test mode is selected, the LCD display on the MAIN unit shows the [OLTS] indicator in the
upper left part of the screen and the selected wavelength(s) in the upper right part of the screen. The
LCD display on the REMOTE unit shows the [REMOTE] indicator in the upper left part of the screen.

Setting References

Setting references is recommended on a daily basis before testing and when changing test jumper(s).
If lasers have been adjusted since last referencing, references need to be reset.

Clean all fiber optic connectors and optical ports before performing test procedures described below.

On entry to the [OLTS] test mode, the MAIN TURBOTEST 500B unit will determine if the reference
hasn’t been set for over 24 hours and prompt you to re-reference.

The display will read:

SET REFERENCE IS RECOMMENDED

• Pressing the [LATER] soft key allows you to omit setting references and use the old reference

values.

• Pressing the [NOW] soft key allows you to access the [OLTS REFERENCES] screen and select the

desired option as follows:

: You may also access the [REFERENCES] screen from the [OLTS MAIN MENU] screen. Press the

[MENU] key, then choose [REFERENCES], and then press [SELECT].
