Performing a Link Test
Refer to Figure 5-4 for a related illustration.
1 Attach the APC connector on the reference cable to the Test Port.
2 Attach the UPC connector on the reference cable to the fiber under test at the patch panel.
Note:
If the link under test is less than 60 km, then the use of a Terminator is recommended. If the
link is greater than 60 km, then termination is not required.
3 Once connected, the TURBOTEST 500B will automatically measure and display the return loss
measurements for the link under test.
4 Press the [SAVE] soft key to store test results in the next available memory location.
5 To save test results in a specific memory location, perform the following steps:
• Press either [UP] or [DOWN] arrow key to select a specific memory location (increase/decrease
fiber #).
• Press the [SAVE] soft key to store test results in the selected location.
Once saved, test results can later be retrieved. (refer to section titled “Reviewing Saved ORL Test Results”, page 38).
