RS232/485 INTERFACE KEY
Input Data Packet: Data Type 4.
This data packet value is transmitted to Frontier radio receivers and is an input from
the user device to the network interface key.
Data Item 1 = Key address (RS232 will always be 0)
Data Item 2 = Packet Data Type 4
Data Item 3 = Frontier Transmitter ID
Data Item 4 = Frontier Point Number
Data Item 5 = Unit Type
Data Item 6 = Data Value
Output Data Packet: Data Type 5. This data packet value is the transmitted data from the network interface key (field
radio transmitter) to the user device.
Data Item 1 = Key address (RS232 will always be 0)
Data Item 2 = Packet Data Type 5
Data Item 3 = Frontier Transmitter ID
Data Item 4 = Frontier Point Number
Data Item 5 = Unit Type
Data Item 6 = Data Value
Data Item 7 = Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
Data Item 8 = Signal Strength
Data Item 9 = Diagnostic
Reserved: Data Type 6.
Network Interface Request (Polled) Update Data Packet: Data Type 7.
When the network interface key receives
this packet, it responds by sending a data packet 5 to the user’s device. Data items 2 and 3 identify the data request-
ed by the user’s device. Note that "Polled" is enabled or disabled in the Global Configuration Packet. Even if "Polled" is
disabled, the user’s device can still send this packet to the network interface key and receive and update. On RS485
this is the only way the user interface will recive data from the network interface key.

Data Item 3 = Frontier Transmitter ID
Data Item 4 = Frontier Point Number
Communication Test Data Packet: Data Type 8. Simple Communication Connection Test. This data packet is
sent from the user’s device to the network interface key. On a successful reception, the local processor will blink a
number of LEDs for 10 seconds. During this time period, do not send any other data packets.
