Fig. 1) is in the FAST position (back). Do not work
the quick couplings (20 and 21 Fig. 1) and those on
ALIEN 5.0 (20 Fig. 1/A) of ALIEN 6.5.
4.2 START-UP
After assessing that:
- The machine is in perfect running order;
- All its guards are intact and in their place;
- The fuel and lubricants are at the right level;
- All parts subject to wear and tear are in perfect
working order;
following the safety instructions in this manual and the
engine manual and after consultation of the instruc-
tions, you can start-up of the machine.
The engine can have 2 different start types:
- Pull start;
- Electric start.
In case of PULL start with fuel engine, perform the
following operations:
1) Turn the enable ON/OFF switch (6 Fig. 5) to the
«ON» position .
2) Open the fuel cock (2 Fig. 5).
3) Rotate the engine lever to open the air (only if the
machine is equipped with a petrol engine).
4) Move the throttle lever (17 Fig. 1) to an intermedi
-
ate position.
5) Move to the side of the machine, grasp the start
hand lever (3 Fig. 5) and pull it slowly until there
is some resistance. Now pull in a strong and
decisive manner.
The pull start is equipped with self-gripping that
allows to pull the rope but that, when the engine
starts, it disconnects so as to avoid tearing and
shocks to the Operator.
6) Release the rope while it rewinds. In the case
where the engine fails to start, repeat the opera
-
tion.
7) After starting the engine, move the throttle lever
(17, Fig. 1) to the minimum position and run the
engine for a few minutes in order for it to warm
even the oil of the hydraulic system, especially in
cold weather.
8) Turn the «air» lever to the normal position as soon
as the engine is able to operate normally.
During the early hours of work, do not use the ma
-
chine at its peak performance. Avoid exasperated
exploitation of the engine.
If there is ELECTRIC start with fuel motor, perform
the following operations:
1) Turn the enable ON/OFF switch (6 Fig. 5) to the
«ON» position .
2) Open the fuel cock (2 Fig. 5).
3) Rotate the engine lever to open the air.
4) Move the throttle lever (17 Fig. 1) to an intermedi
-
ate position.
5) Insert the key in the ignition switch of the engine
and turn it to the «ON» position.
6) Turn the ignition key to «START» to start the
engine.
7) When the engine is «ON», release the key that
automatically returns in «ON» position.
8) After starting the engine, move the throttle lever
(17, Fig. 1) to the idle position and run the engine
for a few minutes in order for it to warm even
the oil of the hydraulic system, especially in cold
weather.
9) Turn the «air» lever to the normal position as soon
as the engine is able to operate normally.
During the early hours of work, do not use the ma
-
chine at its peak performance. Avoid exasperated
exploitation of the engine.
To turn off the engine with electric start, move the
throttle to the idle position and turn the key to «0».
Then remove the key from the ignition plate.
During the early hours of work, do not use the engine
at its peak performance. If the engine does not start,
try again.
If it does not switch on, contact the service center
authorized by the Manufacturer of the engine.
To turn off the engine with electric start, move the
throttle to idle and turn the key is turned to «0».
Then remove the key from the ignition.
If the starter is electric with diesel engine (ALIEN
6.5) perform the following operations:
1) Place the throttle lever to the halfway point.
2) Lower the lever of the decompressor, if the engine
is equipped with it.
3) Turn the key clockwise and release it as soon as
the engine starts.
4) Set the throttle lever to idle and run the engine for
a few minutes and let it warm.
During the early hours of work, do not use the engine
at its peak performance. If the engine does not start,
try again.
If it does not switch on, contact the service center
authorized by the Manufacturer of the engine.
